AES Argentina contributes to the sustainable development of the country with the issue of the first green bond in the primary market

February 17, 2020

Supporting the sustainable development and growth of renewable energy generation in the country AES Argentina issued its first green bond in the local primary market for US $ 48.4 million.

The amount raised will be used to complete the construction of the Vientos Neuquinos Wind Farm, developed by Vientos Neuquinos I S.A., a subsidiary of AES Argentina. The project has the approval of its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), it is located in the Province of Neuquén and its 100 MW are part of the 200 MW of renewable energy that the company is currently building in the country. The other 100 MW correspond to the wind power Vientos Bonaerenses, in the Province of Buenos Aires, which recently came into operation.

The placement of this bond is a sign of the diversification of AES Argentina's sources of financing and is a milestone for the company since it is its first green bond in the local market.

“As a company we are contributing to the sustainable development of Argentina and we collaborate to fulfill the country's commitment to increase the production of renewable energy. Furthermore, this issue is aligned with our growth strategy based on renewable energies"; said Martin Genesio, president of AES Argentina.

AES Argentina has been present in the country since 1993 and currently has a diversified portfolio between hydroelectric and thermal energy. It is a subsidiary of AES Corporation, a multinational energy solutions company that in 2018 announced its commitment to reduce the intensity of its CO2 emissions by 70% by 2030.
