AES Argentina leads a voluntary air quality monitoring program in San Nicolás, aimed at generating reliable, transparent, and continuous information about the composition of the air in the community. This initiative reinforces our commitment to responsible environmental management and sustainable development across all our operations.
Air quality: understanding to improve
The air we breathe is a complex mixture that contains around one thousand different compounds, including nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen. Air quality is determined by the presence and concentration of certain pollutants, whose variations may have environmental and health impacts. Understanding their behavior is essential to protect the community and promote continuous improvement.
Monitoring points and applied technology
Monitoring points and applied technology The monitoring network is composed of three stations equipped with certified sensors capable of measuring:
- Nitrogen oxides (NOx)
- Sulfur dioxide (SO₂)
- Particulate matter PM10 (smaller than 10 µm)
- Particulate matter PM2.5 (smaller than 2.5 µm)
In addition, the system includes a meteorological station and a SCADA platform that enables data storage and automatic report generation, facilitating continuous analysis and traceability of the measurements.
